メディアモニタリングを専門に行うGLAADが毎年優れたLGBTQコンテンツを選出する“GLAAD Media Awards”の受賞式が週末に開催され、Obsidianの新たな傑作「アウター・ワールド」が“オーバーウォッチ”や“Apex Legends”といった作品を抑え、見事ビデオゲーム部門賞を獲得したことが明らかになりました。

“アウター・ワールド”の受賞は、アセクシャルのコンパニオンであるパールヴァティーのライティングを高く評価したもので、彼女と同じセクシュアリティを持つライターKate Dollarhyde氏がダイアログの大部分を手掛け、アセクシャルに対する共感的かつ肯定的な優れた描写を実現していました。

なお、GLAAD Media Awardsのビデオゲーム部門は昨年創設されたばかりの新部門で、今年は“アウター・ワールド”と“Apex Legends”、“オーバーウォッチ”、“ボーダーランズ3”、“The Walking Dead: The Final Season”の5作品がノミネートされていました。（※ 昨年の受賞は、The Elder Scrolls Onlineの“仮面の館”クエスト）
