ゾンビだらけの町を出て、安全なカナダを目指すPC向けのロードトリップアクションRPGとして高い評価を獲得し、本日PS4とXbox One、Nintendo Switch版の発売を予定していたRocketcat GamesとMadgardenの新作「Death Road to Canada」ですが、今月23日にカナダのトロントでバンが歩道を暴走し10人が死亡、15人がけがをした痛ましい事件を受け、パブリッシャーUKIYO Publishingがコンソール版“Death Road to Canada”の発売を急遽延期したことが明らかになりました。

これは、UKIYO PublishingがTwitterを通じて発表したもので、報告によると本作のコンテンツが問題となった訳ではなく、トロントで起こった悲劇的な事件から僅か2日後にこのような名称のタイトルをリリースすることは、心ない判断だと述べ、リリースを楽しみにしていたファンに対する謝罪と、事件に巻き込まれた全ての被害者に哀悼の意を捧げると伝えています。

今のところ、コンソール版の新たな発売時期は明かされておらず、続報が待たれる状況となっています。

Due to the tragic events that happened in Toronto yesterday, we felt that now wouldn't be the right time to release Death Road to Canada, so we have put the release on hold for now.

It not about the content, we felt that given yesterday’s tragic events, that releasing a game with this name two days later would have been insensitive for those directly and indirectly involved in the event.

To be honest, we felt no matter what choice we made there was always going to be some form of backlash. We felt it best to try and be sensitive and responsible with the situation and push the date back.
