かつて、EpicでCliffy Bと共に“Gears of War”シリーズの誕生と成功を支え、“BioShock Infinite”の完成を支援した後、The Coalitionのボスとして再び“Gears of War”の復活と再生を実現したベテランRod Fergusson氏が、本日突如“The Coalition”の退社を発表。なんとBlizzard Entertainmentへ参加し、「Diablo」フランチャイズを率いる責任者に就任したことが明らかになりました。

今のところ、Blizzard EntertainmentにおけるRod Fergusson氏の詳細な役職は不明ですが、氏は3月にBlizzard Entertainment入りし、“Diablo”フランチャイズを監督すると説明しています。

Rod Fergusson氏は、15年に渡って取り組んだ“Gears of War”が人生の喜びだと前置きした上で、新しい冒険にでる時が来たと伝え、愛するGearsファミリーやファン、The Coalition、Xboxの下を去ることは切なく、皆と共に仕事が出来て光栄だったと伝えています。

予てから、困難な状況を乗りこえるまとめ役として突出した能力を持つことで知られるRod Fergusson氏ですが、あらゆる意味で難しいフランチャイズと言える“Diablo”が氏の下でどう変化するか、複数のプロジェクトが進行しているシリーズの動向に改めて大きな期待が掛かるところです。
