早いもので今年も残すところわずか数日となり、今年を振り返る企画や映像、来年の注目作に関する話題が続いていますが、海外では年末恒例の“The Game Awards”開催以降、様々なメディアのアワードやベストタイトルの発表が行われており、紆余曲折を経てSCE Santa Monica Studioに復帰したCory Barlog氏渾身の新生「God of War」とRockstar Gamesの新たな傑作「Red Dead Redemption 2」が多数のGOTYを獲得しています。

余談ながら、記事執筆時点で英語圏外のメディアまで含む各種アワードにおいては、“God of War”が50強、“Red Dead Redemption 2”が40強のGOTYを獲得、次いで“Marvel’s Spider-Man”とLucas Pope氏の独創的な新作“Return of the Obra Dinn”、そして“Fortnite”が2～3程度のGOTYを獲得しており、ほぼ“God of War”と“Red Dead Redemption 2”の2作品でGOTYを二分する状況となっています。
